Most homeowners are unaware that a roofing insurance claim process is drastically different from a traditional construction project.
So, how much should a roof replacement cost?
Many homeowners think roof replacements are similar to getting your kitchen remodeled. You shop around for quotes, throw out the most and least expensive, and consider those in the middle.
Because this is an insurance-based claim, this process is actually closer to, say, getting shoulder surgery. With insurance claims, your only out of pocket cost is your deductible, just like getting a surgery.
So, that said, would you want to get the best possible surgeon, or the least expensive surgeon? Almost everyone would say, obviously, the best surgeon. This way, during and post-surgery complications are less likely to occur, because the surgeon is accredited and has extensive experience.
It’s the exact same process with storm restoration. Your only out-of-pocket expense should be your deductible. This means that whether you choose the best roofer or the cheapest roofer, your expense is the same.
So, that being said, would you rather have the best possible roofer restoring your home, or the cheapest option? For your same roof replacement cost, you could get a licensed, insured, experienced roofer. Or, you could choose the cheapest roofer, and risk cutting corners and incomplete work.
When the price is the same, you want to go with the best.
